When you begin a days practice the first thing to do is tune your guitar. After that you should do a warm up for a few minutes. There are numerous finger exercises, dexterity drills, scales, and arpeggios that make great warm ups. Start slowly, be aware of your posture, the way you hold the pick, the way you fret the notes. Use your fingertips on your fret hand close to the fret. Keep the pick flat as you pluck the string. Use a metronome, tap your foot, and count out loud,
Once properly warmed up you can dive into your practice routine. Remember a proper warm up will not only prepare you physically and mentally to have a good practice session, it will help prevent injuries to the hand.
Remember there is a holiday this month. The Memorial Day Weekend generally marks the unofficial start of summer. Please note there will be NO lessons on Monday May 26, 2008 in observance of Memorial Day.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend.
Some tips for Graduations Parties. First be sure to invite both friends and family of the graduate. Display photos of the graduate doing his or her favorite hobbies. Mix an mingle and remember it is a celebration.
When choosing a gift for a graduate you may choose to pick one that can either allow for reflection of the past few years, or go for a gift that will help the graduate move on to the next chapter in his or her life. Above all the gift should be personal, and from the heart.
